Ron Paul for President
I had been curious where Andrew Sullivan would come down on the Republican nominations… he confirms it today : “Ron Paul For the Republican Nomination”. I remain hopeful Paul can win. Like Mr. Sullivan, I would be just as happy with Obama at this point.

December 17 2007I prefer that members of the party pick our candidates rather than having nutjobs like Ron Paul forced upon us by left-whack members of the MSM. I fully expect the black helicopters to become part of the story.

December 17 2007I’m increasingly hopeful that Paul can pull this off. His message is clear and unambiguous and his integrity beyond reasonable dispute. I take issue with you gentlemen regarding Obama. His war-willingness and plethora of new social programs would only further bankrupt the country while reaping a fresh harvest of death. The two candidates are quite dissimilar although I don’t question Obama’s sincerity. Like Paul, I think he’s for real, something I couldn’t say about most of the others running.

December 17 2007It’s good to see that more and more people recognize Dr. Paul for what he is: steadfast. Do yourself a favor, and notice that he stands out among his fellow politicians. He’s been saying the same damn thing for how long, while others were carefully trying to predict where the views of the public would be? He stuck to his guns. He’s proven that the opinions of his colleagues mean little to him compared to principles. Principle…either I just made this word up, or I learned it from Dr. Paul.

December 17 2007@ Simon9 : it’s certainly possible that the rare dose of sincerity I suspect is present in the person of Barack Obama has blinded me to the potential negatives of an Obama administration… but I just don’t put his “war-willingness” on par with any of the other Dem candidates (save for Kucinich), and believe there’s a better REAL chance he’d work with and listen to members of all American political parties.
We need that.
I mean almost as much as we need Ron Paul’s ideas.

December 17 2007What a great article!!!. Thank for writing a fair article about RP.
If you go back to history, Winston Churchill right until before the war was considered by parliament (specially his own party) and the press as quixotic, eccentric and out of reality and all because what he said was the truth. He was a journalist for a newspaper and there was great pressure from the government and including the press to stop him from writing. When Germany invaded France he became prime minister because he was the only true leader who had been loyal to his principals and convictions and had the courage to face a very grim future for Great Britain. And lets not forget that the people loved him no matter what the press or the government said. Read: “The Last Lion Alone”.
I believe Ron Paul is that kind of leader. What he says is the truth and people love him for that. His voting record in congress speaks by itself.
I believe he has a great chance of winning in the primaries because a lot people might like a candidate but that doesn’t mean they will vote for him in the primaries. I believe every single Paulite will vote even if there is hurricane cat 5. He will surprise everybody in the primaries, just like Truman did.

December 17 2007I am not wasting time “hoping” Ron Paul can win. I made an ad for my local newspaper. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2221/2116916764_906e28142b_b.jpg

December 17 2007re: Andrew Sullivan: Ron Paul For The Republican Nomination
not a bad piece, but on the other hand, far from enlightening.
“They’re not saints, but they believe what they say.”
to contrast and then lump dr. paul in with mr. mccain requires a blind eye over decades of voting records, spending, immigration, pork, and adherence to the constitution.
as far as integrity, does anyone really believe that mr. mccain’s thanksgiving message from the troops to dr. paul was: let us win? show us the troop support for your campaign, mr. mccain. or is there, perhaps, just one soldier spamming his/her support to dr. paul?
there is also the “this is not amnesty,” amnesty effort that mr. mccain will work to complete if given the opportunity.
regarding the “global warming” efforts of mr. mccain: “…he is attuned to the issue of climate change in a way no other Republican is…”
besides being a complete hoax and swindle, you might want to see “The Great Global Warming Swindle” if you want non-government-grant-influenced scientists to weigh-in on the “proof.” mr. mccain and the other crop, won’t stop salivating as plans for new tax sources develop. cold winter, dry winter, warm winter? blame it all on global warming. 10,000 elitists flying into bali to decide the issue can’t be wrong.
how does the perceived role of president and commander in chief compare between mr. mccain and dr. paul? the press wants to forget, and certainly hide from the public, that dr. paul voted his support to apprehend the perpetrators of 9/11. the old nemesis of mr. g.h.w.b., however, seemed to mesmerize mr. mccain, irrespective of wmd status, to turn the bin laden pursuit into an afterthought.
finally, we may still want to ask mr. mccain why he considers a declaration of war by congress to be so egregious and unnecessary. that is the true iraq question. is mr. mccain, the honorable one, deserving of a lifetime political “e-ticket” ride over a wartime past that still conjures up remarks of, ‘we could have won if not for the protesters at home’? i think there are a few, maybe a couple, of worn soldiers without benefit of eyes, legs, arms, or all of the above, here right now, that would beg to differ… and the maimed or tortured returning from the chaos of any foreign base, might be just as deserving to have their opinions elevated as those of the chosen ones in any corrupt political party.

December 17 2007I don’t see how Obama would work with and listen to members of all political parties; look into those whom have bankrolled his campaign so far who have also bet on other candidates, trying to buy up whoever wins the Democratic Party nomination. All those dollars represent people who want to play the access game. The special interests game. The power game. Same goes for most of the candidates on the Republican Party ticket.
Ron Paul is the only one who’s support comes dribbling in a hundred dollars a time, from over a hundred thousand donors to date, plain old Americans who don’t want to trod down the road to global serfdom any longer.
None of these people want anything more than the curtailment of the special interests bleeding them dry via the federal budget, the treatment of all individuals as means unto their own ends, and the minimization of economic coercion at the hands of the state.
His ideas you mentioned, who better to espouse those ideas than the individual who has been talking the talk and walking the walk for over twenty years? There’s a big difference between merely espousing ideas, and living, breathing, surviving and thriving upon them.
Obviously, I prefer the individual who earned a medical degree, served in the USAF as a flight surgeon, started an ob-gyn practice, has tested and rejected the third party ticket as infeasible, has honed his principles and experienced time and time again how the system works to thwart, minimize, trivialize, and override those small government principles in the names of necessity, security, and other good intentions, and who is undeniably and irrevocably committed to shrinking both the power of predatory special interests and the economic footprint of the concomitant federal bureaucracy and its legion of privileged suppliers.

December 17 2007Wow, amazing! I didn’t know there was anyone else out there who liked Obama, Paul, and McCain. All three of them would be principled leaders and hopefully unite the country (that is, except for the 20-30% fringe THAT’S RIGHT I SAID FRINGE who want to keep up the old fight from the 60s).

December 18 2007The only candidate who truly believes in Freedom and The Constitution is Ron Paul… the rest have all been bought. And Obama, no way, not even a choice compaired to Dr Paul. You are saying a man that won’t even honor the flag for the National Anthem or wear a US Flag pin should be President… get real. Only choice is Paul.

December 18 2007Mitt is crying again because Ron Paul raised $6 million dollars in one day (soon the entire GOP field will be crying as Dr. Paul wins. Unfortunately it took segregationist Governor Wallace to reveal the truth that “there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between” Republicans and Democrats. The Democrats willingly went along with the War in Iraq, suspension of Habeas Corpus, detaining protesters, banning books like “America Deceived’ from Amazon, stealing private lands (Kelo decision), warrant-less wiretapping and refusing to investigate 9/11 properly. They are both guilty of treason.
Support Dr. Ron Paul and save this great nation.

You have not a clue if you think that this movement and the support of it are “left-whack” members.

I’m sorry and no offense but if you think that Obama, Paul and McCain are simalar? You need to look again. Ron Paul stands diametrically opposed to almost all that McCain or Obama stands for.

December 18 2007John McCain is another neocon Council on Foreign Relations member. Besides “securing America’s interests in the middle east” he supports all sorts of U.N. backed military interventionism in Africa, South America, and elsewhere. All the while claiming to be for “smaller government”. Check out his essay in Foreign Affairs, the CFR magazine http://www.foreignaffairs.org. One quote from this global government nutjob from the article, “We should go further by linking democratic nations in one common organization: a worldwide League of Democracies.”

December 18 2007It interests me when people don’t vote based on issues. McCain, Paul, and Obama are all three different on foreign policy, the economy, health care, and the environment. Those are the four biggest issues now.
So they all have a modicum of integrity. But integrity just means you do what you say you will do. You should say that you will do the right thing and then do that right thing. Saying you will do something ignorant and then following through doesn’t mean you’re the right man for the job. Ron Paul is the only one that has proven to be right time and time again on the issues.
It seems like it was a pretty easy choice for Andrew to endorse Ron Paul. He seems like he just wrote this because he wanted to show that he could compare and contrast. Good writing Andrew. I give you a gold star today. Tomorrow, long division and on Thursday, finger painting!

February 7 2008MY GOD IN HEAVEN……..RON PAUL
I HAVE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR THE LAST YEAR. IF THE GOP DOES NOT BACK AND SUPPORT PAUL THEY WILL BE COMPLETELY DESTROYED. MCCANT AND HUKASTIK DON’T STAND A CHANCE AGAINST HILARY OR OBAMA. ONLY RON PAUL CAN BRING IT HOME.
PAUL WILL CHANGE THE WORLD. FOR THE BETTER.
